December 29, 2008 - 10:43 am

This is the 3rd part of the article on Palace Scheme, I moved the part about maids & eunuchs to an apart posting. It changes frequently!

The rankings of Maids & Eunuchs

  • Sheung Gong (尚宮), the highest ranking head servant, will be played by Charmaine Sheh. She started off as maid, but got to this position, with her own talents and efforts. Note: Sheung Gong was also the position of the lead character Dae Jang Geum in hit series Jewel in the Palace.
  • Under her, were the four high-ranked officers: Si Sin (司膳), the Food and Beverage Controller - Tam Yim Seung, played by Mary Hon. Si Zhi (司制), the Wardrobe Controller - Chung Suet Ha, played by Michelle Yim. Si She (司設), the Furnishing Controller - Wu So Yan, played by Kara Hui and Si Zhen (司珍), the Jewellery Controller - Yuen Chui Wan, played by Susanna Kwan. In order to be promoted into a higher position, the four often fight endlessly.
  • The lowly maids are ranked lowest. Both Sam Ho and Gam Ling started off as maids. Other known maid in the series is Si Zhi’s maid, this evil maid Chin Fei Yin (錢飛燕) persecuted Sam Ho and Gam Ling, she’ll be played by Elaine Yiu. Later, when Gam Ling became consort, she became her servile follower.
  • In palaces, there are the Eunuchs, who serves the Emperor. The highest ranked Eunuch, Ma Yuen Sing (馬元贄), will be played by Lee Kwok Lun. Other known Eunuch, Bo Kat Cheung (布吉祥), is in love with officer Si Zhi, he’s the only person who knows other officer Si Zhen’s biggest secret. He’ll be played by Cheung Chi Kwong.

Updates @ 28/12/08
- Note that the cast for the Four officer’s position are switched, Si Sin will not played by Mary Hon, but Kara Hui. While Kara’s role, Si She, will be replaced by Rosanna Lui. Si Sin was portrayed by Christine Ng in Sales Presentation!
- Mary Hon will not play one of the four officers anymore, but instead will play the Queen’s mother.

Updates @ 29/12/08
- Note that the cast for the Four officer’s position are switched ONCE AGAIN! Kara Hui will not play Si Sin, but Si She. Mary Hon will play Si Sin now, not the Queen’s mother. Rosanna Lui, who supposed to play Si Sheh, will be played by Rosanna Lui.

I have designed & coded two new layouts for two brilliant fansites:

1) Janice Vidal Network

This fansite is owned by Vinney, it has been down a for a long period, because of a lot of reasons, which I’m not going to write them here. I helped her designing a fully brand-new layout and coded it.

2) TVB Wonderful Series

I have designed & coded all Jse’s layout, since early beginning of his site. And yeah, it’s already time for his 2nd anniversary and also my third layout for his site. I’m not sure why I do this without something back as return, maybe I’m just too nice?

TVB Wonderful Series

Iron Horse Seeking Bridge was shown in Sales Presentation, and will be 25 episodes, it’ll start filming in May and will be an ancient comedy.
Producer: Lee Tim Shing (”Safe Guards”, “Best Bet”, “Legend of Demigods”, “Sweetness in the Salt”, etc.)
Screen Writer: Cheung Wah Biu (”The Conqueror’s Story,” “Safe Guards,” “Heart of Greed,” “Moonlight Resonance,” etc.) It is said that the series could be Moonlight/Heart’s Kungfu version.

The main story focus on two families, who are enemies from each other:

Yuen Chau’s family

Yuen Chau = Mother of four children and master of kungfu
Kevin Cheng = Big brother
Kenneth Ma = Second son
Stephen Wong = Third Brother
Shirley Yeung = Fourth sister
Natalie Tong = Yuen Chau’s kungfu pupil.

Yuen Wah’s family

Yuen Wah = Father of two children, knows kungfu and has killed Yuen Chau’s husband.
Kara Hui = His wife
Heung Joh = His son, he’s an evil character
Selena Li = His daughter
Jazz Lam = Kara’s younger brother

  • In Sales Presentation Clip was Raymond Lam shown as the main lead, but he’ll not be participating in this series.
  • When Kevin was guest in Holland for Miss Chinese Europe (yes, in Holland, but I couldn’t meet him), he revealed that he’ll filming this series and when he returned he’ll be learning kungfu.
  • At Grand Entrepreneurs blessing ceremony, a fan asked Kenneth about Iron and he said is already learning Hung Fist (used by Hung Hei Goon (creator), Hung Man Ting, Luk Ah Choi, Tit Kiu Sam, Wong Kei Ying, Wong Fei Hung, Lam Sai Wing, etc.).

Since there are new updates on Palace Scheme, I’ll write a new article. According to the new updated information in Wiki, I have rewritten the following:

The Emperors family tree:

I have never studied China’s history, so after examining this wiki article, I can conclude that the story takes place during the reign of of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang.

  • The Emperor Li Chen (李怡) (Emperor Xuānzong) will be played by Moses Chan, he was one of the most revolutionary rulers in Chinese history and is considered the last capable emperor of the Tang dynasty.
  • Li Yan (李瀍) will played by Edwin Siu. He’s a smart evil cousin of the Emperor, and will plot against his uncle. Later became the Emperor Tang Wuzong.
  • Empress Dowager (皇太后) (Kwok Si), Li Yan’s grandmother, will be played by Susan Tse. She was the Empress of Yi On.
  • Queen’s mother (太后) (Cheng Si), Li Chen’s mother, will be played by Rosanna Lui. She was the Empress of Li Ming. She got bullied by the Empress Dowager. Because she deeply believed in Lifei, it led to a tragedy.
  • Although the emperor had the highest status by law, by tradition and precedent the mother of the emperor (the Empress Dowager), usually received the greatest respect in the palace and was the decision maker in most family affairs.

  • The Chancellor of that period was Li De Yu (李德裕), also called Prime Minister, he is the highest-ranking official in the imperial government. He will be played by Lau Dan. Note: Lau Dan has also played another famous Chancellor (Cao Cao) in Where the Legend Begins.

The rankings of Consorts:

After doing some research, I can conclude the following: during the Tang Dynasty they have this system:

  • The Empress (皇后) ranks first, only one person may hold this title at any given time. In this series there’s no empress (yet).
  • The Madames are ranked second, with four sub-ranks: Guifei, Shufei, Defei and Xianfei, only 1 person may hold each of the titles at any given time. Guifei (貴妃) will be played by Tracy Ip, she tries to become the Empress. Xianfei (賢妃) will be played by Selena Li. The two are ranked on same level.
  • Then the Consorts follows, there are 3 consorts: Huifei, Lifei, Hwafei. Lifei (麗妃) will be played by Tavia Yeung, she started off as a maid, but ended up as a consort by seducing the Emperor. After that she has many conflicts with Xianfei.

The evil characters: Tavia Yeung, Selena Li, Edwin Siu, Lee Kwok Lun, Susanna Kwan, Michelle Yim, Kara Hui, Rosanna Lui, Susan Tse, Lau Dan, Tracy Ip, Elaine Yiu, Yvonne Lam.
The good characters: Moses Chan, Kevin Cheng, Kwok Fung, Cheung Chi Kwong, Mary Hon

The most important updates are:
- Tracy Ip added as Madame in rankings of Consorts.
- Susan Tse’s character added as Empress Dowager.
- Updated Edwin Siu’s character.
- Fala Chen portrayed the maid of Michelle Yim in Sales Presentation, her role is now replaced by Elaine Yiu.
- Evil and good characters listed up.

Note: Custom fitting will take place in middle of february. More information will be revealed then.

Selena Fansource’s version 12 was released in September 28th, since then I had been too busy and lazy to design a new one. On December 16th, I have finally released our new layout: version 13. Supposed to be a Christmas layout.

After watching the Sales Presentation Clip of Palace Scheme (宮心計), I started to be very interested in the series. I have written this article, with information about the Chinese empires (real history) and the characters in this series. Please do not repost elsewhere!. It’ll be 30 episodes.

Synopsis: Yiu Gam Ling (Tavia Yeung) and Lau Sam Ho (Charmaine Sheh) were actually a pair of good friends who treated each other as sisters in the Palace. As lowly maids, they received bad treatments. At that time, the Palace has four high-ranked officers, including Si Sin - Food and Beverages Controller Tam Yim Seung (Kara Hui), Si Zhi - Wardrobe Controller Chung Suet Ha (Michelle Yim), Si She - Furnishings Controller Wu So Yan (Rosanna Lui), and Si Zhen - Jewellery Controller Yuen Chui Wan (Susanna Kwan). In order to be promoted into a higher position, the four often fight endlessly. The innocent Gam Ling and Sam Ho became the scapegoat. Regardless of how much suffering she has, Sam Ho persists on her Three Good spirit as a method of surviving. However, Gam Ling who has suffered a lot decides to seek revenge. Once, during serving the Emperor, she surreptitiously seduced the Emperor Lee Chen (Moses Chan) and succeeded in becoming the high-ranked consort (Lifei), and the rival of the other Madame (Xianfei) Man Bo Yin (Selena Li). Sam Ho succeeded to gain the highest post of the female officers with her own talents and efforts. When the two held the power simultaneously, their sisterhood starts to break. It turns out that both of them have feelings for the same Palace Guard Go Hin Yeung (Kevin Cheng) at the same time. Gam Ling wanted to punish the four officers, but Sam Ho insisted on repaying trespasses with kindness and insisted on saving the four. Gam Ling used this chance to scheme against Sam Ho…

I have moved the updated information to a newer posting.

Here I show you my top5 favourite ancient and modern series for this 41st anniversary (year 2008). I have pre-modern series included in the ancient category.

Ancient

Legend of Demigods
***** (5/5)
The Gentle Crackdown II
****+ (4½/5)
The Silver Chamber of Sorrows ****+ (4½/5)
legend of demigods the gentle crackdown ii the silver chamber of sorrows
I am a big fan of those fantasy ancient series as I mentioned before here, though I hadn’t high hopes for this one, since TVB has postponed it for more than two years. But it turns out to be Linda’s best character ever, the graphics are not bad and the storyline is damn good! It stole my whole family’s heart and we watched it daily together, anticipating every episode. I loved the ending, it is quite similar to Gods of Honour, which at the end they all became gods. :D I loved TGCI, so I hoped that TGCII would be as good or even better. And guess what? In my opinion it is even better! Not because of the leads, because I don’t think Steven and Yumiko are much better than Moses and Niki, but the whole story, the scenes, the set. And the most important: this is Wayne’s BEST character ever, it outshines Steven’s, and is so much better than his role in TGCI! Elaine & Johnson were such a sweet couple, I loved them even more than Steven & Yumiko. I have heard of this series, but I was never interested in, until I started watching. The first few episodes were OK, not bad, it fully gives me the ancient~pre-modern feeling. But how more I watched the series, how better it was and it was quite exciting as well. It gripped my parents’ heart, especially my mum, she likes to watch how evil all the characters were. Christine’s best character that she has ever acted, the strongest and most outstanding one.

From now on, I’ll keep making comics of scenes in TVB series. This is not just a joke, the screencaps are real and the dialogues are the same as in the series ~ enjoy! This time a scene of Selena in The Four.

episode 8
This is a funny scene featuring Selena & Kenneth in episode 8 of The Four. Their roles Nam Yuk Fei and Iron Fist are tied up and locked in a cell, here’s the way how they solve this!
